Hidden Corners Hike

Join Volunteer Ranger and mining historian Johnny Johnsson on a hike to explore the hidden corners of Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area. We plan to hike several miles to rediscover little known and forgotten historic features of Soldiers Delight. We may see mill foundations, dam ruins, chrome mining pits, quartz quarries, and other traces of how this land has been used down through time.  This program is appropriate for those age 12 and up, who are able to hike distances over variable terrain.  Sturdy hiking footwear, gloves, hat, drinking water and appropriate warm clothing layers for winter weather is necessary.  Be prepared to navigate briers and thorns and to get your feet wet.  Walking sticks will be helpful.  No pets please.
