Stargazing -- The Quest for Cosmic Companions

When: July 19, 2025
  8:30 pm Saturday
Where: Soldiers Delight NEA
How Much: FREE, Donations Welcome!

Join the Westminster Astrological Society (WASI) as we ask the eternal question: Are we alone in the universe? Referencing the work of physicist Dr. Frank Drake and his equation for estimating the number of communicative civilizations in our galaxy, we will explore the potential of intelligent life beyond Earth.

Rain or shine, during the indoor portion of the program, you will learn the constellations and have your questions answered about the galaxy. If the weather is clear, the group will spend time outside once it is dark viewing the cosmos through "time machines" (telescopes) provided by WASI. Feel free to bring your own telescope! WASI will assist with setup and focusing as needed. Wear sturdy shoes as night hiking is required to get to the viewing field. This program is eligible for the Model B Junior Ranger Program. Signup is encouraged.
